How does it work?

NILO converts a digital image into what we call micro-beads. The micro-beads are water soluable, very vibrant, and can produce over 16.7 million colors at 4800 DPI. That means you can print any digital image, photo, or design on a small surface with impeccable quality. NILO has many features that gives you the freedom to print what you want, how you want, and on any nail surface - acrylic, natural, gel, or artifical. You could literally take a snap shot of your favorite dress, your pet, or a special someone and take the memory card into an authorized salon, and have it printed on your nails. You could have your nails look exactly like your outfit! It's addicting and exciting.

The NILO® Nail Fashion Printing System in 4 Steps

STEP 1: Choosing a design

When choosing your design(s), try not to overwhelm yourself with the abundant options and designs. It's importanat to focus - focus on the vision - focus on your image - focus on the unique style that you are about to create. Do you want sexy, sporty, subtle, elegant or something more custom for you?

Once you decide on the type of look you want, you are ready to look into the design index. Turn to the page with the type of designs that will give you the look you want. When you begin looking, remember - no matter what color the image is - NILO can change the color. You are not limited to the color in the design index, any color that is not black - can be changed with the color changer function.

rgb color changer (see illustration below): This function allow color chaning of any image, photo, or design. You can change a red rose to a pink rose - or even change the color of your shirt in a photograph.There are infinite possibilites. Lets get you ready for print.

STEP 2: Prepare for print

To prepare the nail for printing, the surface must be cleaned from oils and debris by wiping it with rubbing alcohol or with nail cleaning solvent. Next, consider a base coat. If you are printing on a natural nail surface, a base coat is required. When printing on acrylic, gel, or an artificial tip, no base coat is required but you may use a base to compliment your design. Finally, pre-print lacquer (#2) is required. As defined below, this coat is absolutely essential to print a perfect design.

base coat - Any color of nail lacquer can be used for a base coat. However, consider the colors in your design and choose a base that will exemplify and compliment the chosen design and remember that the printer does not print white. For example, if your design is a photo, you want a white base to bring out the highlights and to exemplify the depth in your photo. In contrast, if your design is black, you can use color base that isn't very dark. The idea is to envision the base under the design and ensure you will be happy with the outcome.

pre-print lacquer #2 - This lacquer is necessary for the ink to attach properly to the nail surface and must be polished on before printing. It is made with special polymers and color enhancers that make the NILO designs so vibrant and precise.

STEP 3: Load and manipulte the design

Load your design by typing in the index id number or by selecting a design from the main selection pages. Then make any modifications to the design before printing. If your nail is a french tip and you only want the design to be printed on the white portion of the tip - the NILO nail fashion printing system can cut the design to fit your desired style and only print where you want it to. Whether you want to cut it diagonally, straight across, cut for a thin french tip, or a tall french tip, there are over 72 cutters to choose from.

Maybe you have found the design you love, but you wish the blue was lighter or maybe you wish you could turn a blue sky design into a red sky design. Use the RGB color changer to do it for you. Each click of the RGB changer button, changes the colors of the design, from one color to the next, so you can select the best hue or shade that fits your preference. It's truely amazing to watch.

cutter - The NILO feature that provides over 72 templates that will cut any design into a desired shape or form. See Page 0 of the design index to view the cutters that come preloade. As a owner of a NILO, you may add more cutters as desired.

Finally: Mount finger, position image, and print

NILO has a printing bay that is designed to contour the finger shape and hold it in position during the printing process. When the finger is in the printing bay, it is visible through the flat touch screen monitor on the printer. Both you and the operator can participate in positioning the image as it is being displayed over your nail. By looking on the monitor, it enables you and the operator to be in control of exactly where the image will be printed.

To allow for better positioning ability, NILO is equipped with intelligent sensors to find the center of the nail, but it also allows for custom adjusting. The design can be moved up or down, left or right, flipped, inverted, and scaled smaller or larger. Once positioned correctly, push print and the design is completed in less than 30 seconds.
